Potato Picker

A potato picker is an agricultural machine designed to harvest potatoes from the ground with minimal damage to the tubers. It automates the process of digging up potatoes, separating them from the soil, and often collecting them for transport. This equipment is particularly valuable for commercial farming operations looking to enhance efficiency and reduce labor costs during the harvest season.

Working Principle：

Digging:

The potato picker is equipped with a set of digging tools, such as share blades or plows, that penetrate the soil. These tools loosen the soil around the potato tubers as the machine moves forward, allowing the tubers to be lifted from the ground.

Uprooting:

After the soil is loosened, the potato picker uses a lifting mechanism, often a conveyor belt to uproot the potatoes. This mechanism carefully pulls the potatoes out of the soil while minimizing damage to their skins.

Separation:

Once the potatoes are brought to the surface, the potato picker uses screens or meshes to separate the tubers from the soil and other debris. Vibrating screens can help to shake off excess dirt while allowing soil particles to fall away, ensuring that only clean potatoes are collected.

Collection:

The potato picker typically features a collection system, such as a conveyor belt, which transports the harvested potatoes into a collection bin or directly into bags for further handling and transport. It includes additional features to sort potatoes by size or remove damaged ones before they reach the collection point according to the user’s needs.

Output:

The harvested potatoes are then deposited for easy access, either into a trailer, bins, or bags, ready for transport to storage or processing facilities.
