He grows about 7,000 tonnes of seed potatoes each year on two irrigated properties near Pinnaroo. He says that the bed planter has helped him produce more uniform tubers, which are then preferred by crisp processors and supermarket customers. This is a significant improvement over conventional cup planters, which only plant two rows per bed. The bed planter has a 5.46-metre operating width and can plant three rows in the same time as a conventional cup planter. This has allowed Muster to cut his labor costs significantly.
