Growing and harvesting potatoes is a very laborious task. To reduce labor intensity and accelerate the process, special agricultural technology is used - 2 row potato digger.
The 2 row potato digger is an attachment for tractors with the three point linkage and the power take-off (PTO). The device can be fitted on tractor models from 70 to 80 HP. It is designed for a double row harvesting, which allows to maximize the harvesting quantity and quality.
It is characterized by high efficiency, low loss rate, low vibration, and good working conditions. The digger is suitable for use on soils with a medium and high degree of friability and small admixture of stones. The device is equipped with one or two sieving conveyors and a rubber cover belt to reduce the risk of damage to plant tubers or roots dug to a minimum. At the back of the device there are properly profiled chute grates which direct the dug potatoes onto the ridge behind the digger. This limits the possibility of damage to the crop by tractor tires during the next passing.
The plow-shaped digging plowshares have iron tines that loosen the dirt and bring the potato tubers to the surface. They are then cut and shaken by the shaker, which separates the potatoes from the earth. The potato digger is equipped with a protection and clogging kit made up of a transversal moving comb (A) located between the plowshare and the conveyor band, which eases the earth introduction on the belt and of 2 mobile cleaners (B) that prevent the plowshare and the conveyor band from clogging.
At the front of the machine there is a control panel with an electronic metering and an automatic water supply system. The control unit also allows to adjust the digging depth and the rotational speed of the rotors.
Garmach two-row potato diggers are equipped with adjustable rear rubber wheels that control the digging depth. They are also equipped with a depth wheel that follows the contour of the ground to ensure an optimal digging depth.
This enables the operator to focus his attention on the harvesting process and not on operating the machine. This saves time and reduces the operator's fatigue. Moreover, it makes it possible to clean the potatoes in the field instead of at the storage facility, which saves on transportation costs and improves the quality of the harvest.
