Front End Loader Rock Picker

The front end loader rock picker is an attachment that mounts to the front of a tractor, skid steer, telehandler or wheel loader and is used to clear land of rocks and stones, helping farmers prepare fields for cropping activities. Typical rock pickers have a series of rotating tines or paddles that scoop up small to large rocks and stone as the loader equipment is driven over the ground. These are then separated from the soil or dirt by the attachment’s separating mechanism and collected into a bucket or hopper. Often these models have adjustable settings to allow the operator to optimise performance for different soil or dirt conditions.

This innovative equipment fills a need in the market for efficient ways to clear land for seeding and sowing. It allows farmers to reduce the financial burden of hiring seasonal labour for manual rock removal and also significantly cut down on machinery damage, ensuring the financial sustainability of their farm business.

The tow behind rock picker differs from the front mounted model in that it attaches to the frame of a tractor’s three-point hitch and is pulled along behind the vehicle as it moves over the field. Like front mounted models, tow behind rock pickers have an adjustment system to allow the operator to optimise the collecting mechanism for varying soil or field conditions and have a dumping mechanism to release and dump the rocks at a desired location.
